Registered Physical,
Occpational, and Speech-Language Therapist providing services
at HOPE
HOPE is seeking additional therapists to join our team. Interested
individuals are welcome to come visit and observe.

Required documentation and preferred experience:
1. Valid Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy or Speech
Therapy license in the State of Florida
2. Valid CPR certification
3. Up-to-date immunizations and proof of negative TB test
4. Valid professional and general liability insurance with
HOPE named on the general liability policy as additional insured
5. Pediatric physical therapy/occupational therapy/speech
therapy experience preferred
6. Knowledge of basic horsemanship, including stable management preferred
7. Riding/training experience preferred
8. Within one year, therapists must complete the American Hippotherapy Association Approved
Level I courses, with intent to complete Level II. Becoming
a registered therapist through NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) is also preferred.
9. A minimum of 20 hours volunteering with HOPE prior to
billing as a consulting therapist.
Duties of the Physical, Occupational, and Speech-Language
Therapist:
1. Thorough, time-efficient evaluations
2. Selection of appropriate mount, tack, and equipment
3. Selection of appropriate treatment techniques and modifications
as necessary
4. Patient and family education as warranted
5. Complete documentation in a timely manner
6. Stable management
7. Training and/or the supervision of equines used for therapy
sessions
8. Supervision of interns and volunteers, and of the training
of these individuals
9. Duties may vary according to external circumstances without
any prior notice
10. Provide equipment and materials relevant to the therapist's
treatment session
11. Ensure that all HOPE equipment is returned to proper
location and kept in good, clean condition
12. Ensure that the HOPE facility fee is covered by the patient or by the therapist.
Will be required to meet the following demands as
part of position:
1. Frequent heavy lifting
2. Ability to stand, squat, walk, and fast walk for 95% of
the working day
3. Ability to ascend stairs/steps
4. Adequate ROM to demonstrate techniques for the client
as deemed necessary
The Physical, Occupational, and Speech-Language Therapist
working in Hippotherapy must be able to:
1. Display a fun and willing attitude
2. Be flexible and creative
3. Possess a love for children and adults with special needs and horses
HOPE may be able to provide some financial assistance with training and courses with an agreement between the therapist and the HOPE Board of Directors. A minimum commitment of 1 year of service will be required for such an agreement. |
